The food here is AMAZING. We came here from Michigan to vacation, and noticed this place across from Walmart and it sounded good. While I do agree somewhat with the others about the service lacking some, the food more than made up for it. We ordered the feast for four (for four big eaters) and got far more than we bargained for. Ribs, pulled pork, sliced brisket and a whole chicken with three sides (we got Mac and cheese, corn and fries) and bread options as well as our MONSTER sized drinks (also included in the price) for only $39 and tax. This was the first time we had them, and our waitress Kathy was EXCELLENT, and while most of the food was great, the fries were rather lackluster (frozen crinkle cuts are what they tasted like to me). Our server is what made us try it again. Unfortunately, this time our waitress was,... rather lackluster and boring. Don't get me wrong, she was polite but just 'there'. The food this time was amazing. Couldn't put it down (no fries, potatoes instead). Both times we've left with enough leftovers for a lunch the next day, and a full sized drink to go (amazing this day and age). Their sauces are amazing, and I'll be honest, I could go on forever about this place. My only wish is that there were some in Michigan!!!

Restaurant is totally out of chicken..seriously? Can't order any chicken today. I got pork. Food ok. So loud inside we couldn't have a normal conversation. 4 types of sauce and I'm not a fan of any of them..sorry. not flavorful. Service was good.

I've been coming here for many years, and this will be my last time here. We came on a kids eat free night, and the restaurant was mainly empty. We're about to order, and the waitress tells us that, in order for the kids meals to be free our adult meals have to be $9.99. That's insane. We order and wait, wait & wait just to get drinks. Then the wait continues for our food. Our food is finally delivered and 5 side order of fries are cold and gross. Kids ribs are brunt, and adult meal of pulled pork is cold. The overall service is slow, our waitress isn't the friendliest, and it has a bit of a smell in here.

First time coming here. Waitress Catherine, is the best there is when it comes to doing her job and having customer service. She should be promoted to manager for all the hard work she was doing while I was waiting for my food. I bought the Samplers Rib plate with Baby Back Ribs & Dry Rub Ribs. I also got side of broccoli, fries, and homemade cornbread with an apple cobbler for my dessert. Catherine really helped me on this choice and she was dead right on the suggestion. The ribs were tender and juicy but I took more interest in the dry rub ribs. I am honestly in love with the spices. The cornbread was delicious and I loved how there is corn niblets inside of the sweet and soft bread. I also loved the cinnamon butter that was provided and saved just enough for my toast in the morning. I definitely give this place five stars and I normally never give 5 stars on anything. If it wasn't for a helpful server who busts her ass for this restaurant, the delicious ribs, and the closeness to my brothers house I would definitely be giving this place 6 stars. I will tell all my friends and family and have no problem referring them to this good old fashioned BBQ spot (that has a drive thru).

Awful, just awful. Had lunch there for the first time ever today and left most of the food on my plate. I had the Beef Brisket and it was the driest, least flavorful brisket I've ever had in my life. Even dousing it in their BBQ sauce couldn't save it. The baked beans had a very odd flavor to them that I couldn't figure out. Ate only three bites and only ate that many to try and figure out what I was tasting. Ordered garlic bread, got corn muffin, which I did not taste. The floor was disgusting, as every step I took, I had to peel my shoes off the sticky tiles. The service was sub-par, but friendly. The only saving grace was the salad bar had a decent selection, but the ranch dressing was very runny. I don't see that I'll be going back anytime soon.

The food there was just gross. I'll never go back there again. And it was so dirty.

Worst place in St Cloud, the floor stink like a real pig corral. The chicken has no taste, the ribs were dry and looks d class meat. One star for the good staff trying to do the best. Never again

I ate in the restaurant twice and have multiple take out. Food is good, service is ok, but the restaurant need some detail cleaning. You can see the kitchen floors mess in the drive thru window. They need to pay attention to detail cleaning.

Love this place! When I was working in FL sometimes our work would get Sonny's catered for special occasions...and that is the only time I would eat it...This experience was my very first one actually dining at the restaurant. The people in St Cloud are so different than people I encounter in Kissimmee. Everyone was so friendly and open. One old man coming out of the restaurant told us, i'm sorry, there's no food left. I ate it all. And then proceeded to recommend all you can each bbq chicken platter that was on special. Our server made jokes with my family and even the family sitting next to us had conversation with us during the evening. Now, I know the Chicken was all you can eat but I'm a big fan of pork so I tried the pork 3 ways- Ribs, Sliced and Pulled. The sauce is right on the table and you can put as much or as little as you like on your food. It was excellent. I got my pork with crinkly fries, corn on the cob, and garlic toast. I wasn't the biggest fan of the ribs so if I were to ever get the chance to go back I would most definitely buy just pulled pork I think. I really liked the crinkly fries with my pork and the garlic toast was just perfect. We did end up taking some of the food home with lots of extra sauce to eat for lunch the next day! Finger lickin' yummy goodness! #Yelp 365 Challenge 141/365

I'm not sure why so many Sonny's in central Florida have closed. When I was in high school in the late 70's in Daytona Beach, I loved Sonny's. I still order their sauce online. I've been wanting to go back. So tonite after visiting friends/relatives in Kissimmee, we drove to St. Cloud. Not MN where Jack's mom lives but FL! So we're in the boonies now. But..... We were greeted by a sweet young woman. Immediately another young woman comes running to the podium: "Am I next?" Well, she wasn't. But she talked to us several times before we left. I suppose there aren't that many queens who visit Sonny's! We had another great waitress. Just a sweetie. Jack had the all u can eat ribs for some ridiculously low price. I had my fave, the sliced pork. Beans, okra, cole slaw, salad bar... Plus a pitcher of beer--the two mug were filled as was the pitcher. The clientele was cool too. Families, couples, etc. A biker guy who sat with his woman for 2 hours. The service was superb. Not just for this type of place. No, really attentive. Highly recommended!

Great Sonny's location! Service was EXCELLENT. Restaurant was clean. Food was great as always. When it comes to Sonny's BBQ you're either a big fan or just think it's nothing special. If you're a fan like me, you keep going back because no other BBQ place can satisfy the craving. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy different BBQ styles at other joints (especially since I live in the Southwest where we don't have Sonny's) but when I get in the mood for that sliced pork on garlic bread with crinkle fries, I think about booking my next flight back to Florida just to get some. 4 stars.

  • Wendy H.

I give 3 stars for this reason - - walked in, waited 5 minutes, only to be told there would be an hour wait for food. UGH, with 2 elementary aged kids an hour is a deal breaker.

What can you say about Sonny's? The prices are reasonable, the service is fast and almost always great, and the food is very consistent. I've met the man Sonny Tillman, and he'd have it no other way.

A great spot for BBQ in Central Florida. Their ribs are great but their sauces is what makes it. Have to have their beans, they rule!

WoooHOO YEHAW! When you think of Florida you might think of sun drenched, whitesand beaches and pretty girls.... oh no... not in St. Cloud. I visited this quaint little town and decided I will never leave San Diego again. Sonny's is hard to describe.. Oh! I got it.. It's like IHOP but with meat, Yeah thats its! its almost the same feeling, lots of over weight white families but instead of them pounding pancakes they are all ripping apart ribs and pork and such. It was truly an experience never to be had again. I ordered the "Endless Sliced Pork" but I couldn't finish my first plate because I was fixated on a woman stuffing her 1 1/2 year old daughter's face with BBQ Beef. Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmmeeeeeeaaattt!!!

If you don't know beans about BBQ, don't let that dissuade you from ordering their incomparable baked ones - and a whole lot more! I practically live at this place, meaning I dine out here more than anywhere else in the general area. They are clean, the staff quick, but the environment is easygoing. The food comes quickly and goes down real easy, as it's melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The menu features all the usual "barbecuable" meats (pork, chicken, beef, turkey) in sliced, pulled and on-the-bone selections. Fish, burgers and salads are also available, The true value is in their all-you-can-eats, which include endless meats (from ribs on down), sides, breads and drink refills, for one incredibly digestible price. The salad bar is extra unless ordered by itself. Check for specials, which usually change monthly. Doggie bags are almost insisted upon by the staff, so don't bring the tin foil or cup! Sonny's waitstaff is as warm as (Texas) toast, so don't forget to butter the bread generously. Tell them April sentcha, and she recommends the "classic" ribs. Yeehaw. BTW, they closed a bunch of them due to corporate reorganization, or so they tell me, and we lost three seemingly overnight. So far, public opinion has not changed the situation, but we're still hoping "if you eat it, they will come (back)." I'm sure they've been chewin' it over a long time.

I love Sonny's the food is always good. With that said the service is so slow it takes forever for the food to get to the table. It wasn't that busy and we had 8 people at our table and we devoted two hours to a late lunch.

  • Devon S.

I think this place serves leather in place of pork, it's that bad. Sonny's has the driest bbq around. Do not waste your money! The Mac n cheese was so flavorless and my waitress was rude when I went for lunch.
